Emergency Light- Flick Test

Emergency Light- Flick Test

The monthly test aims to quickly verify that all luminaires are correctly positioned, operational, and clean. This test can be performed by you or a team member, provided they adhere to the proper procedures.

1. Simulate a mains failure using an emergency lighting test key provided by your fire safety supplier.
2. Walk around the circuit to ensure that each emergency light is illuminated.
3. Restore the mains lighting.
4. Conduct a second walk around the circuit to confirm that all batteries are charging.

It's important to conduct the test as efficiently as possible to protect the light fittings and batteries. If your emergency lights operate individually with their own switches, you can complete the circuit check in one pass, testing both the light functionality and battery charging simultaneously.

After completing the emergency lighting test, we will:

- Record the test results in your logbook.
- Note any failures.
- Arrange for repairs promptly.

Since the emergency lighting test involves turning off the main lighting circuit to simulate a power outage, it can be disruptive for some businesses. Therefore, it may be advisable to conduct the test outside of regular hours, to easily assess whether the emergency lights are functioning.
